Finding Work that Works for You

When we apply to jobs, we’re used to people evaluating us on whether they think we’d be a good fit for their organization. But, it’s equally important for us to consider whether an organization is going to meet our needs and be a good place for us to work. In this workshop on Monday, March 21, 2022, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., you will learn actionable strategies for finding a workplace that you feel supported and happy in. Moderators from Career Exploration & Education will also facilitate a conversation between employers and students. You will also learn tips on how to go about negotiating and securing what you need to thrive at all stages of the recruitment process - from applying, to interviewing, to being hired for a position. We encourage you to come prepared with questions.

This session is facilitated by Viability, a neurodiverse, youth-led organization dedicated to empowering neurodivergent individuals in work, school, and life as well as supporting organizations and communities in becoming more accessible. Having operated in a disability space for 3.5 years, we have grown to offer a range of services including mentoring, leadership programming, recreational programming, educational workshops, organizational consulting and community events.

This event is co-hosted by Accessibility Services and Career Exploration & Education and is catered to students who self-identify as living with a disability. Students from U of T, UTSC, and UTM who self-identify as having a disability(ies) are welcomed!
