Networking in Your Field of Interest

Building relationships and networking (whether in person or virtually) is really important in job searching and career planning. Whether this is approaching professors for a reference for grad school or reaching out to a professional in your field for a coffee chat, it all relies on being able to identify people and talk to them about your career interests and goals.

In this workshop participants will:

  • Learn where and how to connect with professionals in your field of interest

  • Understand best practices with regard to reaching out to and conducting coffee chats (informational interviews)

  • Identify the key elements of an effective professional introduction (elevator pitch)
