Equity Talks: 'Fit' - Health and the Body

What does it mean to be 'fit'? How does it influence what bodies are viewed as healthy?

In this workshop offered by the Office of the Registrar and Student Services and facilitated by KPE's Equity Engagement & Student Advisor, Bachelor of Kinesiology (BKin) students are invited to join in a discussion about what it means to be perceived as fit.

Topics of discussion include:

  • How do narratives about fitness construct what a healthy body looks like?

  • How do gendered, racial, and physical expectations of the body impact our understanding of health?

  • How does disability justice and body neutrality challenge what it means to be ‘fit’?
