Responding to Microaggressions: An Art-Based Approach

What are some examples of microaggressions, and how do they manifest in health education? What are the impacts of these microaggressions Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and instrumental Activities of Daily Living (iADLs)? How can you advocate for yourself and others? Join this interactive online workshop for KPE Graduate students on Monday, January 17, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. ET to strengthen your skills for responding to microaggressions through an arts-based approach. Understand the related policies and support services. Contribute to creating a community of support and inclusivity!

Strengthening your knowledge and skills in key equity topics can develop your resume/CV and make you more competitive in applying to graduate programs and professional employment opportunities within healthcare and beyond.

Key topics covered in this session include:

1. Discuss the impact of microaggressions on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and instrumental Activities of Daily Living (iADLs).

2. Communicate strategies for engaging in self-advocacy and allyship when microaggressions occur, at both the interpersonal and institutional level.

3. Through an arts-based approach, create blueprints for interrupting and responding to microaggressions enacted against oneself/others.
